Bleh....still sick, and tonight I have to go back to work. Nope, can't call in sick. For one reason...I just had 10 days off. Calling in sick after that would be totally ridiculous. Plus, I just don't have one of those jobs where I can call in sick and then make up for the work I missed the next day. The work doesn't wait, someone's gotta do it. And there's always the chance that me calling in sick would make them short-staffed at work. I know how it feels to be there when we are short-staffed and it SUCKS ASS. And I really like the people I work with, so I don't want to do that to them.
The part that tempts me to call in sick though, is that lately we have often been over staffed. And when we are overstaffed that means someone has to float to another unit. Floating is ok, you get more money, and most other units aren't as busy as ours. But it's kinda lonely, and if given the option I would rather take comp time or something. It's coming up on my turn to float, so I wouldn't be surprised if I have to float tonight. Wouldn't be so bad if I was feeling 100%.
Meh, I am totally complaining right now. I gotta snap out of it.
Here's something good....from now on I am 90% at work. Meaning, I work 36 hrs a week instead of 40. The way my schedule is, it means I work only 6 12 hr shifts in a 2 week period. At 100% there was an additional 8 hr shift. It may not seem like a lot, but it really makes a difference.
