Busy weekend!

But that fun type of busy. I did some spinning!

This is the first finished yarn from the bag of super fresh alpaca fiber I got from the farm up in Bow. It was nice to spin up, although it was still really dirty. I kept having to stop to wash the dirt off my fingers. This took 2 of the 8 batts I have and is about 110 yards of light worsted...I will probably end up dying this. No, at the current moment I do not know how to dye yarn or fiber. But next weekend Kendal and I are going to spend the afternoon up in Monroe at Barbara's house learning how to. I'm so excited!!

Here's some from a handcarded batt...I have another spool of this and am planning on plying them together.

And here is my first attempt at "art yarn." It is from a handcarded batt that I spun up as a single ply thick and thin. I wasn't too crazy about it and I have been wanting to try plying with thread so this was the guinea pig! I used some neon green sewing thread.It turned out okay. It's super squishy but it could be twistier. However, now that I know the process and the possibilities of it...there will probably be lots more of this type of yarn in the very near future!
